Everything you need to get the most out of ToPeek.

1. Getting Started

  1. Install the extension — Visit the Chrome Web Store listing and click Add to Chrome.
  2. Sign in — Click the ToPeek icon in your toolbar and sign in with Google or a Magic Link sent to your email.
  3. Open the side panel — Right-click the ToPeek icon and select Open Side Panel, or use the keyboard shortcut. The side panel lets you see your dashboard alongside any webpage.

2. Connecting Your Accounts

Google Analytics 4

  1. In the extension, go to Settings → Connect GA4.
  2. A Google consent screen will appear. Grant ToPeek read-only access to your Analytics data.
  3. Select the GA4 property you want to monitor and confirm.

ToPeek requests read-only access. It cannot modify your Analytics configuration.

Google Ads

  1. Go to Settings → Connect Google Ads.
  2. A Google consent screen will appear. Grant ToPeek read-only access to your Google Ads data.
  3. Enter your Google Ads Customer ID to start tracking.

ToPeek requests read-only access. It cannot create, edit, or delete your campaigns.

3. Dashboard & Widgets

Your dashboard displays real-time KPI cards and charts from both GA4 and Google Ads. In the side panel you get a fully customizable grid:

  • KPI Cards — Single-value metrics like sessions, active users, ad spend, or ROAS.
  • Line Charts — Trend data over time (e.g., daily sessions for the last 7 days).
  • Bar Charts — Comparative data (e.g., spend by campaign).
  • Tables — Detailed breakdowns by dimension (e.g., sessions by country).

Drag and drop — Rearrange widgets by dragging them to a new position. Your layout is saved automatically.

Add a widget — Click the + button, choose a metric or dimension from the GA4 field catalog, pick a widget type, and confirm.

5. Privacy & Data Security

ToPeek is built on a strict first-party data architecture. Here is what that means in practice:

  • Your OAuth tokens stay in your browser. They are stored in Chrome's local storage and never sent to our server.
  • Your analytics and advertising data never leave your device. The extension fetches data directly from Google and Meta APIs and renders it locally.
  • Our server stores only your email, language preference, and subscription status. We physically cannot access your GA4 or Google Ads accounts.
  • No third-party trackers. We do not embed analytics scripts that track your behavior inside the extension.

6. Troubleshooting

"No data" or empty dashboard

  • Make sure you have connected at least one account (GA4 or Google Ads) in Settings.
  • Check that the selected GA4 property or ad account has recent activity.
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the account to refresh the access token.

Token expired / authentication error

  • Go to Settings → Connect GA4 (or Google Ads) and re-authorize. OAuth tokens expire periodically and need to be refreshed.
  • If the problem persists, sign out of ToPeek completely and sign back in.

Extension not loading or side panel is blank

  • Verify ToPeek is enabled in chrome://extensions.
  • Try disabling and re-enabling the extension.
  • Clear the extension's storage: right-click the ToPeek icon → OptionsClear local data, then sign in again.
  • Make sure you are running the latest version of Google Chrome.

Widgets not saving their position

  • Widget layout is auto-saved to Chrome's local storage. If positions reset on reload, check that no other extension is clearing your browser data.
  • Ensure you have enough local storage available (typically not an issue unless you run dozens of extensions).
